||The tropical forest has been for centuries a paradise of unspoiled nature, the highest expression of life, the most beautiful
ornament of our planet. It has set up the chest of the wealth biotic treasure.
Hence the idea of a food market container that refers to a natural image and evokes the forest. A “petrified” forest as a fossil
imprinted in the concrete. An image without time and space that can promote the relationship between man and nature and
which takes up the meaning of the land of Latvia: European region characterized by forests and lakes. The location of the site
on the edge of the conifers forest has led the design choices. The covered parking placed on the west side of the building
leads to its entrance. The mass of precast concrete wall panels, which surrounds the building, has carved on its surface a
pattern that refers to the bark of trees of a forest fossil. The rectangular building (30x100x6,50m) unbalanced towards the northern boundary of the lot establishes a relationship with its immediate surroundings, the forest. The same internal functional
distribution is designed to ensure a relationship with the latter. An internal road distributes and separates the stores from the
market area. An overlooking at the woods from the shop area is guaranteed by a continuous window, which allows both the
entry of natural light and a visual relationship of the ground floor with with the conifers wood.
